Fans of the National are celebrating the band’s announcement that a new album is on the way, the group’s first studio effort since 2017’s Sleep Well Beast.
Titled I Am Easy to Find, the new album will be accompanied by a 24-minute short film from director Mike Mills, starring Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander (you can watch a brief trailer above).
According to the band’s website, the short film “is not the video for the [album],” while the album “is not the soundtrack to the [film].”
In a statement, Mills explains that the film focuses on “playfully hostile siblings that love to steal from each other,” adding that “they share music and words and DNA and impulses and a vision about what it means to be human in 2019 but don’t necessarily need one another.” [Source]
